Vision

logo

Our planet is the most precious and amazing place. Years of industrialisation and neglect have put it in danger. Vast amounts of carbon dioxide are released daily and trapped by the Earth’s atmosphere preventing it from being released into space. Global warming, rising temperatures are causing an ever-escalating ecological crisis. Anomalous weather conditions, droughts, melting glaciers and rising sea levels are putting our planet at risk. Land and sea are being choked by the products of industry. We believe that everybody has a key role to play and that everybody can make a difference. More than that, we believe everyone has an obligation to do something to stop the rot. We want to make our contribution to preserving this beautiful world for future generations. Hemp is a plant which has been badly misunderstood and under-utilised, even prohibited. It is incredibly versatile and one of the most productive sources of fibre, oil, fuel and protein on our planet, with an amazingly positive impact on the environment. Our dream is to replace products which are causing such damage to our environment with the environmentally-friendly, carbon-positive alternative potential of Hemp and thus contribute in a small way to reversing the ecological crisis.

Secret Trees

logo

Secret Trees is an environmentally-conscious agricultural company and next-generation technology services provider. Founded in 2018, Secret Trees aims to contribute to a sustainable global agro-economy through the industrial and commercial development of the growing demand for the agricultural crop Hemp. Our strategic goal is to become a leader in the production of industrial hemp in Eastern Europe within five years. Secret Trees embraces both financial and technological innovations in the pursuit of our objectives. We use Blockchain technology and token economics to attract investors and raise funds to allow greater engagement between investors and producers for growth in production, future product diversification and to facilitate more effective supply chains.
The goal of Secret Trees is to maximize the benefits of industrial hemp to produce eco-friendly products, through the use of innovative technology.

Problem

logo

Carbon dioxide traps heat in the atmosphere and prevents it from being released into space. The resultant global warming causes enormous adverse effects, including anomalous weather conditions, droughts and rises in sea levels due to the melting of glaciers. Today, we have industries that give us process and products that have led to this unprecedented ecological crisis and worldwide destruction of the biological heritage that we should bequeath to our children, grandchildren, and future generations. Hemp is a plant grown for its straw, its seeds and for the oil produced by pressing the seeds. Hemp fibre is the strongest known natural fibre, which has been used extensively over the centuries for ropes, canvas and clothing, paper, plastic goods and string. It is an excellent material for insulation and its seeds and the oil they produce have extensive uses in food and medicine, reputed to be the best-balanced source of essential fatty acids. During the last century the popularity of hemp receded, partly due to industrial developments in petroleum-based synthetic fibres, partly because of bans on production linked for example to it being grown for its recreational use as marijuana. The many uses of industrial hemp are increasingly recognised, but although there are still many restrictions, the opportunities are great.

Solution

logo

Secret Trees recognises the ecological challenges and equally the enormous potential of hemp to contribute to their resolution. Our objective is to create an ecosystem where the production of hemp and the materials and products it offers can benefit producers and consumers alike and provide a positive environmental impact. We will also become an integral player in the ecosystem by building the means to take and convert raw product into its many potential uses. The amazing possibilities of Blockchain technology bring a further dimension to achieving these objectives. Secret Trees will create a platform to provide an innovative solution to facilitate the interaction between producers, investors and consumers. This will incorporate hemp risk management through financial instruments such as derivatives (future, options) to bring effective and beneficial management to the production to product lifecycle, something which to date has been beyond the reach or the majority of hemp producers.

Ilvers previously worked as a customer service specialist in Private Lending for ExpressCredit LLC. Knowledge of the credit sector have provided a great deal of experience in Financial Services. The birth of a child gave Ilvers a new vision to focus on the need for environmental change. His experience was enriched working with one of Latvia's leading pre-wood processing factories, "PATA" AS, in which he grew his awareness, knowledge and capacity to search for new resources which do less harm to the environment. This inspired Ilvers towards the economic and ecological potential of industrial hemp, which resulted in the founding of Secret Trees. Ilvers' vision is to combine the emerging blockchain technology with asset tokenization to maximize the increasing value and potential of industrial hemp. Ilvers’ professional experience includes: Project development, human resourcing, Cryptographic architecture, design and sales execution.

    What's hemp

Despite its ancient history and one of the earliest plants to be cultivated Hemp fell out of favour in many Western countries during the twentieth century. This was owing to its association with its relation marijuana. Thankfully common sense prevailed and after many legislative updates in recent years around the world it has come back into mainstream industrial agricultural and back into the public consciousness. Hemp has rightly earned the reputation as a sustainable crop due to the fact it requires less water, pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizer than most crops commonly produced on an industrial scale. Hemp has, by most estimates, over 25,000 known uses ranging from basic essentials like paper, fuel and textiles, right through to the production of Cannabidiol (CBD oil) which is a naturally occurring medicinal compound of cannabis that has been used to help alleviate pain, reduce anxiety, and treat acne. There are plenty more medicinal tests currently ongoing to help reduce symptoms related to cancer and the side effects related to cancer treatment, like nausea, vomiting and pain. Hemp’s environmentally friendly credentials knows no bounds either. Three key reasons for this is carbon reduction, soil enhancing properties and the fact that hemp can be processed into a plastic substitute. It is possible to make alternative building materials with the stalks, such as hempcrete, which removes more carbon from the atmosphere than the carbon emissions required to produce it. Also, instead of depleting the soil of vital nutrients like other crops, hemp revitalizes the soil it grows in, by aerating the soil and through the deposit of carbon dioxide in to it. This makes hemp ideal for crop rotation, and the crop that follows in the soil hemp grew in will develop better than if hemp had not been used. The scourge of the environmental world plastic pollution is destroying our planet by the minute. Hemp can be a non-toxic plastic replacement! Where it takes between 500-1,000 years for plastic to degrade, hemp plastic in the right environment hemp plastic takes around 3-6 months to decompose. Most plastics today contain endocrine disruptors which can lead to hormonal imbalance in the human body which potentially can stimulate the development of tumours and other defects. Hemp doesn’t contain harmful endocrine disruptors and doesn’t emit toxins into the air during production. Not bad for an eco-friendly crop once considered a nuisance.
